On April 10th, the Michigan Difference Student Leadership Awards were held in the Michigan Union Rogel Ballroom. This year, SAPAC’s very own, Lauren McIntosh was nominated and won the Unsung Hero / Quiet Leadership Award!
Her nominee shared the following about Lauren: “She does not do the work for recognition, she works to end sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, and sexual harassment because it is the right thing to do. As co-coordinator for the Networking, Publicity and Activism Program at SAPAC, she quietly and effectively leads a passionate group of her peers. Lauren is always humble. She does not expect accolades, but deserves them wholeheartedly. She has been a co-coordinator for two years and she has consistently gone above and beyond in her job duties and in her leadership of her campus community. Lauren is the personification of mature and professional. She has worked tirelessly to build strong relationships with the full-time staff in the SAPAC office and with everyone she meets. She approaches all people as potential allies in this work. Lauren brings energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to social justice to all of her activities. This is to be expected in any successful member of an activist organization, and in this regard Lauren fits in well. Whether it is supporting group members at Survivor Speak Out, managing the volunteer programs budget, or establishing best practices in building community within her program, Lauren consistently delivers high-quality results for our organization.”
Congrats Lauren! SAPAC is so proud of you!
