Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center

Comprehensive Sexual Violence Prevention Plan for First-Year Students: Three Required Programs

As part of our comprehensive sexual violence prevention efforts at the University of Michigan, all first-year students are required to participate in three different programs that seek to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Programs and offices from across Student Life, including the First Year Experience, the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center, Wolverine Wellness, and University Housing partner together to deliver these nationally recognized programs.

Our Vision & Philosophy

SAPAC promotes social change and activism on two levels: through the professional services we provide to the University of Michigan community, and through student leadership development wherein students help students as peers.  We believe that people of all identities must work together to eradicate sexual assault, stalking, sexual harassment, and intimate partner violence and that this necessitates activism in many areas, including education, advocacy, crisis-intervention, safety-building, bystander intervention, and policy development.
