SAPAC offers three distinct internship opportunities for graduate students. Each offers comprehensive training and onboarding, weekly supervision with field experts, unique skill-building, and on-the-grounds experience. Prevention Education & Student Engagement Internship:
The student in this internship provides support to SAPAC’s Program Manager for Student Engagement through:
- Prevention education initiatives
- Student volunteer engagement, advising, and leadership development
- Training curriculum development and implementation
- Community outreach efforts such as workshops, tabling, and support at events
- Support, information, and advocacy for those at U-M who have experienced sexual violence in person and via our 24-hour crisis line
Survivor Support & Advocacy Internship:
The student in this internship works directly with a Case Manager/Advocate to provide:
- Support, crisis counseling, comprehensive case management, and advocacy for those at U-M who have experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, intimate partner violence, and other forms of sexual misconduct.
- Crisis counseling, information, referrals, and support to U-M community.
- Support, information, and advocacy for those at U-M who have experienced sexual violence in person and via our 24-hour crisis line
- Community outreach efforts such as workshops, tabling, and support at events
Community Engagement & Training Internship:
The student in this internship provides support for SAPAC’s Program Manager for Community Outreach & Systems Advocacy by:
- Providing assistance to campus and Ann Arbor community engagement efforts
- Nourishing community collaborations through partnerships and trainings for students, faculty, staff and others affiliated with the University
- Engaging faculty and staff on culture shift efforts within academic departments
- Engaging in community outreach efforts such as workshops, tabling, and support at events.
- Support, information, and advocacy for those at U-M who have experienced sexual violence via our 24-hour crisis line
Peer Led Support Group Internship:
The student in this internship provides support for SAPAC’s Program Manager for Group-Based Intervention & Peer Support through:
Supporting program development and implementation to design, promote, facilitate, and evaluate a peer-led support group for student survivors of sexual assault, interpersonal and intimate partner violence, stalking, harassment, and other forms of sexual misconduct
Co-facilitating peer-led support groups for UM student survivors regularly, engaging participants in topics such as trauma psychoeducation, shame and guilt in survivorship, self-esteem and self-worth, grief and loss, healthy and unhealthy relationships, boundary setting, disclosure support, etc
Engaging in community outreach efforts to promote program offerings, build and maintain campus relationships, and explore potential campus collaborations
